Runway Aleph vs. Aleph

Runway Aleph 2.0 is an advanced in-context video editing model developed by Runway to modify existing video content using natural language instructions and edited reference frames. The model focuses on localized changes, allowing users to alter selected elements of a scene while preserving the composition, movement, and appearance of unaffected content. Its text-based editing capabilities support changing object colors, replacing products, modifying environments, adjusting lighting, and removing unwanted visual elements. Users can also restyle entire scenes, change seasonal conditions, or create alternative visual treatments without recording new footage. Frame-based editing allows creators to modify a still image from a source video and use that image as a visual reference for changes applied throughout the clip. Aleph 2.0 supports videos up to 30 seconds long at 1080p resolution and maintains the original sequence structure when processing footage containing multiple shots. Its multi-shot editing capabilities apply relevant modifications across different camera angles and scene transitions without requiring users to edit each shot individually. Runway Edit Studio provides an interface for uploading footage, entering instructions, previewing proposed changes as images, and generating the final edited video. The model supports existing camera footage and previously generated AI video, enabling creators to reuse source material across different campaigns and production requirements. Integration capabilities include Figma Weave, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, the Runway API, and Model Context Protocol tools for incorporating AI editing into existing creative workflows. Aleph 2.0 is available through paid Runway plans and supports applications such as advertising localization, product marketing, social media video production, visual effects, filmmaking, and automated post-production.
