The UPLAN Advanced Clearing Engine (UPLAN-ACE) is engineered to enhance day-ahead market operations in accordance with established protocols from operators, while also carrying out real-time economic dispatch in 5-minute intervals during every operational hour. This cutting-edge system effectively combines day-ahead generation offers with real-time demand bids to refine the provision of energy and ancillary services for both hourly operations and 5-minute dispatches. A notable feature of UPLAN-ACE is its proficiency in modeling the unpredictable and fluctuating characteristics of new technologies, such as batteries, flywheels, and other rapid-response systems. Additionally, the Real-Time Model (RTM) not only mirrors the scheduling process for the upcoming hour but also oversees real-time dispatch every 5 minutes, building on the commitment schedules developed in the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) while predicting real-time load needs. With dispatch operations conducted in 5-minute cycles, it includes optimal power flow computations and ultimately produces locational marginal prices (LMPs), imbalance schedules, and updated dispatch information. This all-encompassing methodology guarantees that UPLAN-ACE is capable of responding to the dynamic demands of contemporary energy systems and delivers precise and timely forecasts for market participants, thereby enhancing their decision-making processes.
