    We have found a true partner in APS. Our previous provider left us to our own accord. With APS, they took the time to ensure we had a good foundation. Since go live, we have had a few minor issues, but APS was quick to respond and offer a workable solution. We are employees in 10+ states and appreciate we have found our partner to cover all of our operations.

    Excellent transition process from previous provider.
    Straightforward integration with our accounting software (easy to setup and make changes).
    Employee Notifications emails are extremely helpful,
    Dedicated support team instead of a random 800 number.

    Reports took the longest to master. Report builder is a little confusing at first.

    A good system for small c ok companies for the price

    Over all for the price that's a pretty decent system. They are making updates and changes to it constantly improve it.

    I like that the system is easy to use. It is very user friendly. Our staff also learned it very quickly.

    Negative

    I don't like the FMLA tracker. We still need to track it using a spread sheet. The customer service is OK most of the time but there have been issues with them taking a real long time to get back to me when I have questions that need immediate attention. A manager did reach out to me regarding this.
    The payroll module is okay but you have to reactivate terminate employees in order to pay them. It's a pain to have to explain to auditors.
    The benefits module is only good if you can set up Carrier connections. We are not able to use this feature as it would cause us more work.

    The entire process from beginning to running payroll on my own was seamless. From the sales people to the implementation process to the training sessions to actually running payroll, I felt supported. I was 100% set up for success. Once I was handed off to the regular support team, I have continued to get immediate help to questions that I have had. I love the fact that I can call or email and receive a response either immediately or within a couple hours.

    APS in a Modern World

    Probably better solutions exist. Will go elsewhere probably when we consider investigating newer solutions in the future.

    Largely intuitive. Fairly responsive to commands. Does not require installation of a client application to interact with server. Administrator and Manager interfaces are still built "desktop first" rather than assuming everything is a swipe on a mobile device.

    Negative

    Does not support any API access with third party labor collection systems.
    Not US distributed - when their servers in Louisiana go down - like during hurricanes in a state that has them occur regularly - their entire system goes down. Inability to create scorecard systems for attendance that match our (fairly normal) policy.

    It have been a lifesaver for me as an HR manager--tracking items and reporting features are great. Timekeeping module is very user friendly and thorough. Support team has been excellent!

    When we searched for an HRIS for our medical specialty practice, we needed something that was user-friendly, handled payroll, recruitment, HR basics and timekeeping. Many others had this and a lot more--some too much. APS was the perfect fit. A very user-friendly interface for staff and HR/Payroll team. Pleasing layout with a very logical flow. Customer service has been top-notch and very responsive to our needs. I mostly love the support team approach which gives me a more personal experience when issues arise. They are up to date on all HR related topics and even proactive with solutions and upgrades.

    There isn't much I don't like--if I had to point one out is the fact that for salaried individuals, once you activate their HR record and input the salary, it will pay them on the next payroll run, even if their start date has not been reached. I circumvent this by leaving the salary blank until the payroll it's supposed to start in.

    Overall, I am happy with the system. It has been a learning curve, because things aren't always super intuitive, but it can do everything I need it to do.

    Switch to APS

    Overall, we are using APS payroll functions successfully. There are a couple of areas that we do not utilize, as we feel it is not relevant to us currently or we do not wish to pay the additional service cost.
    Our employees are comfortable with eSELFSERVE and are satisfied with the real time access that it gives them to their personal information.

    Positive

    We left our former payroll company and chose APS initially for some of the following reasons;

    • Their demo/presentation process was very thorough and inclusive of additional time for hands on exploration of both Employer and Employee pieces. I reached out to a couple references which were supportive of using APS.

    • They have all of the standard payroll functions in place including Sage/Peachtree compatibility. Provide 3-4 dedicated customer services representatives who will be familiar with our specific account and able to provide best practice advice. , build reports and are APA certified knowing local jurisdiction and tax laws.

    • Very proactive with providing immediate updates on IRS/PPP/FFCRA, etc. which includes specific details as to how it will affect both the employee and the employer from a business/payroll perspective. Providing best practice information. (Which is how I discovered APS in the first place while searching out information on PPP in May/June 2020, as my payroll provider at the time was unable to provide guidance)

    Negative

    There are a few things I'd like to see improvement.
    -Quicker resolution to items escalated to "support" for fixes needed.
    -More proactive communication when there are issues that others have reported that may affect our or our employees use of the payroll system and/or eSELFSERVE. It would be great if APS could send out an Admin. notification upon learning of validated issues rather than being reactive when an Admin. reaches out with the particular issue. This would help by keeping us in the loop and to be able to be more proactive in notifying/responding to our staff. In addition to saving time of both the Admin. users and APS Team members.

    My experience with APS

    Overall I'm satisfied with APS, with its easiness of use, and the APS guys are always ready to support us.

    My familiarization with APS began in 2015. As a non-American user, I started to use it very easily. I have barely experienced any program failures like the system being slow, the system not saving anything, or slow loading, etc. I remember only one day having some difficulties in using the program but it was solved quickly. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The guys always supported the force majeure situations that happened in our company, even if I sent my requests at the very last minute.
    The system continuously is being improved by adding new features.

    Overall, we would absolutely recommend APS to anyone looking for a new HRIS system. It takes some time to get used to, but it's been a godsend for our mid-sized organization.

    Positive

    APS has incredible customer service, from sales, to onboarding, to ongoing user support. Our dedicated support team is always quick to help me no matter what kind of question it is.

    Negative

    While the APS Hire to Payroll integration is fantastic, some of the other sections within APS online could integrate better together- for example, there is a performance management module but you can't pull in data from the attendance or events modules.

    Summary

    Overall experience is high. We implemented near the end of 3rd quarter 2020, and continuing its use today with no plans to move to another platform. They are incredibly responsive with their ticketing system.
    I have recommended APS to several associates as well ad promoted APS on SHRM forums.

    Positive

    Onboarding, integration of modules, training process, ease of use, online support, having a dedicated support team, responsiveness, reliability.

    Negative

    Reporting is good but some reports seem to have a criteria of one choice or all choices, without the ability to slice & dice on the fly. APS has created a couple reports for us. I have created some of my own reports, but not fluidly as I would like.
    No feature for tracking attendance occurrence points.

    The overall experience of switching to APS was extremely thorough and hands-down the best software platform switch we've ever made.

    The customer service is outstanding! The user interface is easy to navigate and processing payroll is a breeze!

    Compared to our previous experiences with similar software, I'm finding it hard to come up with a "con". The price is a bit higher than our previous company, but considering what we're getting compared to them, I'm gladly paying.
