Robust Payroll Solution

Since go live, we have had a few minor issues, but APS was quick to respond and offer a workable solution. We are employees in 10+ states and appreciate we have found our partner to cover all of our operations.
PositiveExcellent transition process from previous provider.
Straightforward integration with our accounting software (easy to setup and make changes).
Employee Notifications emails are extremely helpful,

PositiveI like that the system is easy to use. It is very user friendly. Our staff also learned it very quickly.
NegativeI don't like the FMLA tracker. We still need to track it using a spread sheet. The customer service is OK most of the time but there have been issues with them taking a real long time to get back to me when I have questions that need immediate attention. A manager did reach out to me regarding this.

The payroll module is okay but you have to reactivate terminate employees in order to pay them. It's a pain to have to explain to auditors.

Excellent from onboarding to everday use

From the sales people to the implementation process to the training sessions to actually running payroll, I felt supported. I was 100% set up for success. Once I was handed off to the regular support team, I have continued to get immediate help to questions that I have had. I love the fact that I can call or email and receive a response either immediately or within a couple hours.

PositiveLargely intuitive. Fairly responsive to commands. Does not require installation of a client application to interact with server. Administrator and Manager interfaces are still built "desktop first" rather than assuming everything is a swipe on a mobile device.
NegativeDoes not support any API access with third party labor collection systems.

PositiveWhen we searched for an HRIS for our medical specialty practice, we needed something that was user-friendly, handled payroll, recruitment, HR basics and timekeeping. Many others had this and a lot more--some too much. APS was the perfect fit. A very user-friendly interface for staff and HR/Payroll team. Pleasing layout with a very logical flow. Customer service has been top-notch and very responsive to our needs. I mostly love the support team approach which gives me a more personal experience when issues arise. They are up to date on all HR related topics and even proactive with solutions and upgrades.
NegativeThere isn't much I don't like--if I had to point one out is the fact that for salaried individuals, once you activate their HR record and input the salary, it will pay them on the next payroll run, even if their start date has not been reached. I circumvent this by leaving the salary blank until the payroll it's supposed to start in.

PositiveI like that it is an all-in-one solution for payroll, HR, benefits, and onboarding. This system has a ton of capability and is very customizable.
NegativeEverything is very manual, with not much in terms of automated flows. A lot of changes have to be made individually for each employee rather than group actions.

Date: Dec 06 2023SummaryOverall, we are using APS payroll functions successfully. There are a couple of areas that we do not utilize, as we feel it is not relevant to us currently or we do not wish to pay the additional service cost.
Our employees are comfortable with eSELFSERVE and are satisfied with the real time access that it gives them to their personal information.PositiveWe left our former payroll company and chose APS initially for some of the following reasons;
• Their demo/presentation process was very thorough and inclusive of additional time for hands on exploration of both Employer and Employee pieces. I reached out to a couple references which were supportive of using APS.
• They have all of the standard payroll functions in place including Sage/Peachtree compatibility. Provide 3-4 dedicated customer services representatives who will be familiar with our specific account and able to provide best practice advice. , build reports and are APA certified knowing local jurisdiction and tax laws.
• Very proactive with providing immediate updates on IRS/PPP/FFCRA, etc. which includes specific details as to how it will affect both the employee and the employer from a business/payroll perspective. Providing best practice information. (Which is how I discovered APS in the first place while searching out information on PPP in May/June 2020, as my payroll provider at the time was unable to provide guidance)NegativeThere are a few things I'd like to see improvement.

-More proactive communication when there are issues that others have reported that may affect our or our employees use of the payroll system and/or eSELFSERVE. It would be great if APS could send out an Admin. notification upon learning of validated issues rather than being reactive when an Admin. reaches out with the particular issue. This would help by keeping us in the loop and to be able to be more proactive in notifying/responding to our staff. PositiveMy familiarization with APS began in 2015. As a non-American user, I started to use it very easily. I have barely experienced any program failures like the system being slow, the system not saving anything, or slow loading, etc. I remember only one day having some difficulties in using the program but it was solved quickly. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The guys always supported the force majeure situations that happened in our company, even if I sent my requests at the very last minute.
The system continuously is being improved by adding new features.NegativeI don't have any disadvantages to point out.

NegativeReporting is good but some reports seem to have a criteria of one choice or all choices, without the ability to slice & dice on the fly. APS has created a couple reports for us. I have created some of my own reports, but not fluidly as I would like.
