OnlyOffice is Looking Much Better Now, But Still Needs Some Work Here and There
Updated: Jul 15 2025SummaryI’ve been using OnlyOffice for a while, and honestly, the latest update feels like a big step forward. The new design looks clean, and the AI features are actually useful — not just for show. I like that you can pick different tools depending on what you need, like image generation or translation. It’s been smooth overall, especially on Linux, but yeah, there are still a few issues. Sometimes it slows down with bigger files, and the collaboration part could be improved. But all in all, it’s moving in the right direction.
PositiveI’ve been using OnlyOffice for a bit now, and honestly, the version 9 update really changed things for me. The new design just looks and feels better — more modern, smoother to use. It’s the kind of update that makes you go, “Oh, okay, they’re actually trying to improve stuff.”
One thing I really like is the AI integration. What’s cool is you’re not locked into one thing — you can choose which AI to use.NegativeIf I had to point out a few downsides, I’d say performance can dip sometimes, especially when working with larger documents — not super often, but enough to notice. Also, while the collaboration features are there, I feel like they’re not as intuitive as they could be. Like, real-time editing works, but sometimes there’s a small delay or it feels clunky compared to other tools. Would be great to see that polished up in future updates.

Solid Productivity Tool With Smooth Team Collaboration
Date: May 06 2025SummaryONLYOFFICE has been a dependable option for my day-to-day work. It covers all the essentials, doesn’t feel bloated, and the real-time editing is a huge plus for teams. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a free yet powerful alternative.
PositiveONLYOFFICE makes it really simple to work on documents with others in real time. The interface is clean and intuitive, and I had no trouble opening or editing files I’d made in Word or Excel. It works well even on older PCs.
NegativeThe mobile app could use some polish, and I noticed a few occasional formatting issues when importing complex Excel sheets.

Best office software for cross-platform use
Date: Jul 08 2025SummaryOverall great experience. I've really enjoyed using OnlyOffice and I'm so grateful it exists. It made switching to Linux a lot easier for me since I was able to learn the program on my previous computer beforehand.
PositiveEverything about this program is amazing! I love how feature-rich it is and how attentive the developers are to the needs of those who use it. The online version is incredible as well.
NegativeCan't really think of any cons. I guess the devs could do a little more testing of certain things before they roll them out (I'm thinking of when they said OnlyOffice was now compatible with .pages, .numbers, and .keynote files but the compatibility wasn't very good).

ONLYOFFICE Review After 1 Year – My Honest Experience
Date: Jul 09 2025SummaryOnlyoffice is a solid free alternative to Microsoft Office. It looks clean, has no ads, and comes with useful templates. I’ve been using it for over a year and really like it. It could use better cloud support and more tutorials, but overall, it’s a great free option.
PositiveThe best thing about ONLYOFFICE, in my opinion, is that it's free to use. I initially started with Microsoft Office on Windows, but the free version is full of advertisements—especially in the extensions. In contrast, ONLYOFFICE has no ads in its extensions, which I think is the best part. It’s completely free .
Especially after the version 9 update, it looks almost exactly like Microsoft Office. It doesn’t feel out of place—it actually looks like a native Microsoft app, unlike many other free alternatives.NegativeAs for the cons, I think it needs better cloud integration. And of course, it could use more extensions. While there are already some useful ones, I believe having more would be great. Another issue is the lack of tutorials online. The software itself is excellent, but it’s really hard to find tutorials for it. They should definitely focus on creating more tutorial videos so people can learn to use it more effectively.

PositiveSimple to use, stable on my different OS (Linux and Windows), powerful with python programmatic, easy to setup, management and use...
NegativeThe whiteness, i put a suggestion of grey or dark colors of the work place (cell's, document, pdf...) not just the application, my eyes suffer to much

Long-term User
Date: Jul 08 2025SummaryOver the last year or two, OpenOffice has become as effective and comparable to popular mainstream office editing software. I'm usually a person who is a first adopter of software and share what I think with others. Wish more people knew how great this is nowadays, highly recommend anyone checking it out for themselves to see what works best for them, you can only benefit from exploring this product!
PositiveI prefer open-ended software over closed software when it gets as good or better than the alternative competitors.
NegativeBecause I've been trained and used at least two of the main primary competitors for so long, I have to intentionally spend more time with the plethora of detailed customizable options available with this suite.

The Supreme Digital Office Suite
Date: Jul 11 2025SummaryI am a undergraduate student who uses the OnlyOffice free plan. I signed up for OnlyOffice after learning that it was a highly recommended alternative to the Google and Microsoft document editing software lines of products. Its many features, particularly cloud storage and autosave, and security and privacy protections were what interested me most. I have used OnlyOffice for at least 15 text-based and image-based essays and projects in my education, as well as for personal needs. I would recommend that anybody who uses Microsoft Office or the Google suite of products immediately switch to OnlyOffice. It is a great company that makes superior products.
PositiveCloud sync, autosave, security of files, privacy, feature-packed and complete virtual office suite, PDF editor.
NegativeI am glad to say that I have not experienced any issue with OnlyOffice.

OnlyOffice review
Date: Jul 08 2025SummaryOnlyOffice is a very good alternative to MS 365 and could be excellent by fixing those little details I mentioned above
PositiveVery good alternative to Microsoft 365.
I wrote my PhD manuscrit and presentation initially in Word and PowerPoint.
Then I moved to Linux (Ubuntu) and OnlyOffice.
It worked very well with both documents, which were very complex in terms of advanced functionalities.
Also, AI integration is very easy as well as the other pluginsNegativeBasic functionalities:

- Math AutoCorrect doesn't work (-> should generate → for instance, or +- should generate ±, etc.) which is very annoying
For academics:
- Mendeley (a reference manager software) doesn't for desktop editors which is very limiting
- Zotero (another manager software) doesn't work well. So, a workaround is needed to update citation number by downloading and editing the script from GitHub (which as far as I know only works with flatpak and not snap) -

Efficient document collaboration for high impact teams
Date: Aug 06 2025SummaryONLYOFFICE Docs is a well-rounded tool that covers everything I need across strategy, documentation, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration. It’s helped me reduce turnaround time, maintain consistency, and improve visibility across multiple program tracks, whether that’s drafting IAB Tech Lab proposals or building internal tools with engineering teams.
It strikes a strong balance between ease of use and professional capability. For anyone in product or program management, it offers a reliable, collaborative workspace that easily integrates into your broader ecosystem.PositiveONLYOFFICE Docs has been incredibly valuable in my day-to-day program management tasks where precision and collaboration are non-negotiable. Whether I’m documenting strategic initiatives like the vertical video product "Bytes" or managing ad experience tooling with my cross-functional squad, ONLYOFFICE offers a stable and intuitive environment to co-author with zero friction. The ability to edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint formats without breaking formatting has made it much easier to maintain consistent documentation across internal and external stakeholders. I especially appreciate the commenting and version control features that help streamline feedback cycles, particularly when iterating on A/B test summaries or campaign optimization docs.
Another standout use case is how effortlessly it integrates into existing workflows. For example, while working on internal analytics dashboards or ML bidding algorithm enhancements, I often have to collaborate with data analysts and engineers. ONLYOFFICE’s spreadsheet functionality has been immensely helpful in running through pivot tables, tracking engagement KPIs, and formatting agency reports that eventually feed into SQL pipelines. It enables quick alignment without needing to switch tools or lose time due to file incompatibilities. Simply put, it’s a unified workspace that supports everything from documentation to data alignment to stakeholder presentations.NegativeSome advanced spreadsheet features like complex charts or formatting options can feel a bit limited compared to Excel. When working on detailed analytics or visual presentations, I occasionally have to export files to desktop apps for final polishing. Performance in large collaborative documents can also lag slightly under heavy load, but it’s minor and doesn’t significantly affect overall productivity.

Too good but can be even better with AI
Date: Jul 16 2025SummaryOverall experience is good so far, and I am also expecting to see a lot of AI integration, which can even make the experience a lot better. If that has been already done then please let me know I want to experience this as well.
PositiveEverything about this product is good. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. all are at par with Microsoft Office when compared with functionalities. For example, the latest feature of Microsoft Office PowerPoint is Morph, and we see it being used a lot these days. The same is also available in OnlyOffice !!! This is just an example and there are more such features for which you definitely need to try this and experience it yourself.
NegativeThe PDF Feature can be improved, as I see some lag when the PDF is picture heavy (with a lot of graphics) or if it's a magazine. There is a slight delay even when we scroll through the pages and experience is not that smooth.

ONLYOFFICE ensures control, collaboration, and compliance
Updated: May 25 2025SummaryAs a security analyst, I found ONLYOFFICE to be well-aligned with enterprise-level compliance and data control requirements. The flexibility of deployment and encryption support made it easy to recommend internally. It strikes the right balance between usability and governance. I genuinely feel confident using it for both technical documentation and collaborative planning.
PositiveDocument permissions are highly configurable, which is critical from a security standpoint. Real-time collaboration works smoothly without compromising access control. The platform supports on-premise deployment, offering better control over data flow. Audit logs and role-based access settings help ensure accountability across teams. Integration with existing LDAP and SSO systems made user management very straightforward.
NegativeUI response on large spreadsheets could be slightly more responsive at times, though it doesn’t affect core usability.
