I’ve been using OnlyOffice for a while, and honestly, the latest update feels like a big step forward. The new design looks clean, and the AI features are actually useful — not just for show. I like that you can pick different tools depending on what you need, like image generation or translation. It’s been smooth overall, especially on Linux, but yeah, there are still a few issues. Sometimes it slows down with bigger files, and the collaboration part could be improved. But all in all, it’s moving in the right direction.

I’ve been using OnlyOffice for a bit now, and honestly, the version 9 update really changed things for me. The new design just looks and feels better — more modern, smoother to use. It’s the kind of update that makes you go, “Oh, okay, they’re actually trying to improve stuff.”

One thing I really like is the AI integration. What’s cool is you’re not locked into one thing — you can choose which AI to use.

If I had to point out a few downsides, I’d say performance can dip sometimes, especially when working with larger documents — not super often, but enough to notice. Also, while the collaboration features are there, I feel like they’re not as intuitive as they could be. Like, real-time editing works, but sometimes there’s a small delay or it feels clunky compared to other tools. Would be great to see that polished up in future updates.

Can't really think of any cons. I guess the devs could do a little more testing of certain things before they roll them out (I'm thinking of when they said OnlyOffice was now compatible with .pages, .numbers, and .keynote files but the compatibility wasn't very good).

The best thing about ONLYOFFICE, in my opinion, is that it's free to use. I initially started with Microsoft Office on Windows, but the free version is full of advertisements—especially in the extensions. In contrast, ONLYOFFICE has no ads in its extensions, which I think is the best part. It’s completely free .

Especially after the version 9 update, it looks almost exactly like Microsoft Office. It doesn’t feel out of place—it actually looks like a native Microsoft app, unlike many other free alternatives.

As for the cons, I think it needs better cloud integration. And of course, it could use more extensions. While there are already some useful ones, I believe having more would be great. Another issue is the lack of tutorials online. The software itself is excellent, but it’s really hard to find tutorials for it. They should definitely focus on creating more tutorial videos so people can learn to use it more effectively.

The whiteness, i put a suggestion of grey or dark colors of the work place (cell's, document, pdf...) not just the application, my eyes suffer to much

Over the last year or two, OpenOffice has become as effective and comparable to popular mainstream office editing software. I'm usually a person who is a first adopter of software and share what I think with others. Wish more people knew how great this is nowadays, highly recommend anyone checking it out for themselves to see what works best for them, you can only benefit from exploring this product!

I prefer open-ended software over closed software when it gets as good or better than the alternative competitors.

Because I've been trained and used at least two of the main primary competitors for so long, I have to intentionally spend more time with the plethora of detailed customizable options available with this suite.

I am a undergraduate student who uses the OnlyOffice free plan. I signed up for OnlyOffice after learning that it was a highly recommended alternative to the Google and Microsoft document editing software lines of products. Its many features, particularly cloud storage and autosave, and security and privacy protections were what interested me most. I have used OnlyOffice for at least 15 text-based and image-based essays and projects in my education, as well as for personal needs. I would recommend that anybody who uses Microsoft Office or the Google suite of products immediately switch to OnlyOffice. It is a great company that makes superior products.

I am glad to say that I have not experienced any issue with OnlyOffice.

OnlyOffice is a very good alternative to MS 365 and could be excellent by fixing those little details I mentioned above

Very good alternative to Microsoft 365.
I wrote my PhD manuscrit and presentation initially in Word and PowerPoint.
Then I moved to Linux (Ubuntu) and OnlyOffice.
It worked very well with both documents, which were very complex in terms of advanced functionalities.
Also, AI integration is very easy as well as the other plugins

Basic functionalities:
- Math AutoCorrect doesn't work (-> should generate → for instance, or +- should generate ±, etc.) which is very annoying
For academics:
- Mendeley (a reference manager software) doesn't for desktop editors which is very limiting
- Zotero (another manager software) doesn't work well. So, a workaround is needed to update citation number by downloading and editing the script from GitHub (which as far as I know only works with flatpak and not snap)

Overall, ONLYOFFICE is a fantastic alternative to traditional office suites. It's reliable, user-friendly, and offers all the essential tools needed for document creation, spreadsheets, and presentations.

Sometimes loading large documents takes a little longer, and a few advanced features are missing compared to MS Office.

The best alternative for Microsoft Office by far. No big learning curve. It's visually beautiful. Carry on your old docs.

Very intuitive and familiar interface - my father-in-law, 74 years-old, made the transition with a little set of instructions;
Full compatible docs with know formats - writing letters, reports, using spreadsheets, or creating presentations that can be opened elsewhere, without stress converting things;
Cross-platform - From PC to the smartphone, then online, again full compatible;
Tab experience - For the ones who loves it.

It's slow for opening small or big files - once opened, no lags, but takes it in advance;

Overall, we have been using OnlyOffice for a couple of years and have had a great experience using it. The client support is excellent. The business plans are cost-effective.

OnlyOffice is our go-to document management tool. It's easy to use has an intuitive user interface and supports integration with our existing tools. Has cross-platform support. The deployment process of the on-premises version was easy.

On a few occasions, it takes an unusual time for file synchronization.
