A surprisingly efficient alternative for ad tech documentation and collaboration
Date: Aug 03 2025SummaryONLYOFFICE Docs is a strong fit for ad tech teams dealing with data-heavy collaboration. It’s helped me manage everything from SSP performance reports to live campaign reviews without the usual formatting or access headaches. While it could improve on integrations and interface fluidity, it’s reliable, efficient, and makes day-to-day documentation and partner coordination much easier.
PositiveONLYOFFICE Docs fits well into my workflow in Demand and Key Account Management, where I’m constantly analyzing DSP and SSP data across metrics like bid CPM, win rate, and net pub revenue. It handles large, formula-heavy spreadsheets without breaking, which is critical when I’m building reports to share with supply partners or summarizing trends for internal review. My team frequently co-edits documents for weekly performance summaries, QBR prep, and troubleshooting logs, and the real-time collaboration with version control keeps everything structured and efficient. It also helps during partner calls, I can walk through live documents without worrying about format issues or download delays, and the option for private hosting ensures sensitive data stays in our control.
NegativeSwitching between document types (like Sheets and Docs) isn’t always smooth, and the UI could use some refinement to match the fluidity of tools like Google Workspace. Integration is another weak spot, we rely on Slack, internal dashboards, and ticketing systems, and having to manually update across platforms adds friction. Comments and discussions are functional but feel tucked away, which slows down quick async feedback. Still, for spreadsheet-heavy work and structured collaboration around performance analysis, it holds up well and has become a reliable part of our documentation toolkit.

OnlyOffice 9.0 has changed the way I work for the better
Updated: Jul 20 2025SummaryOnlyOffice 9.0 has become a constant companion, an always-on app, and it has completely changed the way I work and handle my files. For several years, I kept all my active files on Google Drive and used Google Docs and Sheets to edit them. I volunteer for a non-profit that rehabs donated computers and gives them free to students and immigrants. We install LibreOffice on all these computers. But I never installed LibreOffice on my own system because I don't find it appealing. I learned about OnlyOffice when one of my non-profit colleagues suggested it to the group. I was fortunate enough to encounter OnlyOffice for the first time when it had just been completely redesigned and upgraded to version 9. I gave it a try and am so impressed with the program that I removed all my files from Google Drive and put them back on my hard drive. I now edit them exclusively with OnlyOffice, which I find a lot easier to use than Google Docs and Sheets. I back up my files automatically with the Google Drive desktop app. This new setup is working wonderfully well for me. I'm grateful to OnlyOffice for allowing individual users like me to use this powerful office suite.
PositiveIts appealing user interface. Also, I was amazed to find that OnlyOffice Documents includes Track Changes capabilities. I have already used this feature, with which I am very familiar from an earlier editorial job.
NegativeLack of a Grammarly plugin. Also, I have had trouble getting the Auto Fit Row Height command to work properly in spreadsheet cells I would like to expand.

An excellent and modern alternative to Microsoft Office
Date: Jul 08 2025SummaryONLYOFFICE has pleasantly surprised me as an office suite solution. It offers a clean, modern interface very similar to Microsoft Office, which makes the transition easy. Its compatibility with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents is excellent, even for complex formats. I use it both in collaborative and individual settings, and its performance has been stable and reliable.
One of its greatest strengths is real-time collaboration, which has significantly improved our team’s productivity. I also really appreciate its easy integration with platforms like Nextcloud, making it a flexible solution for self-hosted environments. Overall, it's a very complete and highly recommended option.PositiveExcellent compatibility with Microsoft Office formats (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx)

Smooth real-time collaboration features
Self-hosting option with great control over privacy

An amazing open source suite

PositiveONLYOFFICE is easy to use, and a good alternative for users coming from proprietary and paid software, mainly due to its polished, beautiful and organized interface. The suite also has enough cloud features, and it is a great solution for teams which need to collaborate.
NegativeI just feel the lack of a database editor and manager.

Efficient and Versatile Tool for Team Collaboration
Date: Aug 08 2025SummaryONLYOFFICE Docs has proven to be a dependable choice for document collaboration in my role. It effectively supports teamwork, reduces file compatibility issues, and allows for smooth integration into existing project management and communication systems. The editing tools cover the majority of daily requirements, and the platform’s consistent performance has helped maintain steady progress on deliverables.
While there is still room for improvement in terms of handling more advanced use cases and performance under heavy workloads, its strengths far outweigh its shortcomings.PositiveAs an Application Development Analyst, I found ONLYOFFICE Docs to be a versatile and efficient platform for collaborative document editing. It integrates well into workflows where real-time co-authoring is critical and offers a familiar interface that minimizes the learning curve for new users. Its compatibility with multiple document formats has been particularly valuable in my role, as it allows seamless work with clients and team members who use different office suites without worrying about formatting inconsistencies.
The solution also provides good control over access rights, which is essential for handling documents in projects where certain stakeholders only need viewing or commenting privileges. This has streamlined the review and approval process within our team. I have also appreciated the ability to integrate ONLYOFFICE Docs with other business applications, which reduces context switching and helps keep productivity levels high.NegativeWhile the platform is robust, I noticed that working with large and heavily formatted documents can occasionally lead to slower response times, especially when multiple users are collaborating simultaneously. This can be a minor interruption in workflows that depend on speed and precision. The spreadsheet functionality, although solid, lacks some advanced data analysis features that could make it a stronger contender against more specialized tools.

Additionally, the customization options for the interface are somewhat limited. In scenarios where a more personalized layout or specific UI tweaks could improve efficiency, the flexibility falls short. These limitations do not impact everyday tasks significantly, but for complex or niche projects they can slow down certain operations or require switching to alternative tools. -

Review of Document and Spreadsheet Only
Updated: Jul 10 2025SummaryI am retired but leaving number of MS Office files in my own computer. With a sudden broken system disk, I could easily open all my files without hassle or waste of time to ask MS support for help. I found that OOD is good for me for handling daily records. I used it just over a month. I cannot tell too much about Pros because it is almost similar to MS Office except some functions that I have never used during my working life. For those Cons, I believe the developer will gradually sort them out.
PositiveThe Document and Spreadsheet of OnlyOffice Doc (OOD) provides what I need. OOD is quite compatible to MS Office. As a long term MS Office user, OOD is not strange to me. It is free for individuals who will not be bothered if their computer/system disk is broken because I am one of the victims using retailed licenses. To open all MS Office files are the same operations without hassle.
NegativeThere is no way to provide feedback to you/developer. I have written to the forum to express my problems I encountered but haven't had replied but the ai robot. If there are frozen row or column, the cursor is always at the beginning of the file but not the last record. Bookmark doesn't automatically look up the text you print in the box of the window. You need to move the right hand scroll bar to look for it. For spreadsheet, data (colored texts and/or numbers) are sometimes automatically changed into a mess of blurred color objects if it is not used for a period of time. It is required to be closed and re-opened again.

Loving the New Look in OnlyOffice!
Date: Jul 08 2025SummaryOnlyOffice has come a long way. The new look is great, and the AI features are a nice touch. It’s easy to use and familiar, especially for Linux users like me. A few more templates and better cloud support would be nice, but overall, I’m pretty happy with it.
PositiveMy favorite thing about OnlyOffice is the new look after the version 9 update — it’s actually pretty cool. I also really like the AI features. It’s great that you can choose different AI LLMs; for example, I use Together AI for image creation, Gemini for translation, and others for general purposes. That flexibility is really nice.
A few years ago, when I first joined the Linux community, I started using OnlyOffice. To be honest, the interface felt familiar right away — so yeah, that’s a plus.NegativeI don’t have many complaints, but of course, there are a few things that could be improved. For example, I think we need more templates — especially creative ones. If there were an option to generate custom AI-based templates, that would be amazing. Also, while cloud services are already supported, I think the integration could be improved further.

overall best open source free office solution
Date: Aug 21 2025SummaryOnlyOffice is an excellent free alternative to Microsoft Office. It has improved a lot over time, offering a clean and professional interface along with powerful features for documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. While there are a few minor bugs and the AI feature may be tricky for users unfamiliar with APIs, it remains a solid, reliable, and cost-free solution for anyone looking to switch from paid office software.
PositiveThe best thing about OnlyOffice is that it’s free. I’ve been using it for over a year now, and it has received some really great updates. At first, it didn’t look that good, but now it’s completely beautiful and looks a lot like Microsoft Office. So, if someone wants to switch, it’s a great alternative.
It now has many useful features in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint presentations, which have been very helpful for me. Honestly, it’s a really good piece of software. If anyone is looking for a free option, I’d definitely recommend it.NegativeAs for the cons, I haven’t found many problems. There are a few minor bugs, but they’re so small that you’ll hardly notice them. The only issue I see is with the AI feature. It requires API integration, which works great for me since I use APIs in my daily life. However, for people who don’t know much about APIs, it can be difficult to use the AI option in the app. So, in a way, it’s both a good thing and not-so-good thing—depending on your experience.

Replaced Microsoft Office for me.
Date: Jul 08 2025SummaryI recommend OnlyOffice to everyone. Its the only option for those that want a fully featured office suite for collaboration on the web, desktop and mobile.
PositiveOnlyOffice is the perfect solution for those that want to collaborate and don't like Google Docs or Microsoft Office. My favorite feature is the built-in PDF editor. This is a game changer for companies that don't want to sell out for the expensive Adobe Acrobat Pro.
NegativeThe only issue we ever had with switching from Microsoft to OnlyOffice was the inability for the spreadsheet program to import values from networked xlsx files that have spaces in the directory string. We have to rename all of our files to get it to work properly and remove any spaces with the file names.

PositiveFamiliar interface, real-time collaboration, cross-platform support, open-source Community Edition, and strong file compatibility.

One of the best free office software for desktop
Updated: Jul 15 2025SummaryOverall, ONLYOFFICE is a solid free alternative to Microsoft Office, especially on desktop. The AI tools make things like Excel formulas much easier, and the PDF editor has really improved. It’s not perfect—the updates are a bit slow, and the mobile app is pretty limited—but for everyday use on a computer, it’s honestly great.
PositiveI’ve been using ONLYOFFICE for over a year now, and to be honest, it’s the best free and open-source alternative to Microsoft Office I’ve come across. After a few recent updates, it’s better than ever.
One of my favorite features is the built-in AI. You can type in plain English, and it automatically generates the correct formula for Excel. This means I no longer need to remember thousands of formulas to get my work done.
The PDF editor has also improved a lot. It had some issues before, but now it works just fine.NegativeAs for drawbacks, there aren’t many, but the updates aren’t released very frequently. I also started using the mobile version of ONLYOFFICE, and I have to say—it’s not great. While the desktop version is solid, the mobile app lacks many important features. For example, you can’t upload or create PDF or DOCX files as easily as you can with Microsoft 365.
