    OnlyOffice 9.0 has changed the way I work for the better

    OnlyOffice 9.0 has become a constant companion, an always-on app, and it has completely changed the way I work and handle my files. For several years, I kept all my active files on Google Drive and used Google Docs and Sheets to edit them. I volunteer for a non-profit that rehabs donated computers and gives them free to students and immigrants. We install LibreOffice on all these computers. But I never installed LibreOffice on my own system because I don't find it appealing. I learned about OnlyOffice when one of my non-profit colleagues suggested it to the group. I was fortunate enough to encounter OnlyOffice for the first time when it had just been completely redesigned and upgraded to version 9. I gave it a try and am so impressed with the program that I removed all my files from Google Drive and put them back on my hard drive. I now edit them exclusively with OnlyOffice, which I find a lot easier to use than Google Docs and Sheets. I back up my files automatically with the Google Drive desktop app. This new setup is working wonderfully well for me. I'm grateful to OnlyOffice for allowing individual users like me to use this powerful office suite.

    I am retired but leaving number of MS Office files in my own computer. With a sudden broken system disk, I could easily open all my files without hassle or waste of time to ask MS support for help. I found that OOD is good for me for handling daily records. I used it just over a month. I cannot tell too much about Pros because it is almost similar to MS Office except some functions that I have never used during my working life. For those Cons, I believe the developer will gradually sort them out.

    The Document and Spreadsheet of OnlyOffice Doc (OOD) provides what I need. OOD is quite compatible to MS Office. As a long term MS Office user, OOD is not strange to me. It is free for individuals who will not be bothered if their computer/system disk is broken because I am one of the victims using retailed licenses. To open all MS Office files are the same operations without hassle.

    There is no way to provide feedback to you/developer. I have written to the forum to express my problems I encountered but haven't had replied but the ai robot. If there are frozen row or column, the cursor is always at the beginning of the file but not the last record. Bookmark doesn't automatically look up the text you print in the box of the window. You need to move the right hand scroll bar to look for it. For spreadsheet, data (colored texts and/or numbers) are sometimes automatically changed into a mess of blurred color objects if it is not used for a period of time. It is required to be closed and re-opened again.

    Loving the New Look in OnlyOffice!

    One of the best free office software for desktop

    I’ve been using ONLYOFFICE for over a year now, and to be honest, it’s the best free and open-source alternative to Microsoft Office I’ve come across. After a few recent updates, it’s better than ever.

    One of my favorite features is the built-in AI. You can type in plain English, and it automatically generates the correct formula for Excel. This means I no longer need to remember thousands of formulas to get my work done.

    The PDF editor has also improved a lot. It had some issues before, but now it works just fine.

    Negative

    As for drawbacks, there aren’t many, but the updates aren’t released very frequently. I also started using the mobile version of ONLYOFFICE, and I have to say—it’s not great. While the desktop version is solid, the mobile app lacks many important features. For example, you can’t upload or create PDF or DOCX files as easily as you can with Microsoft 365.
