It performs monitoring, alerting and reporting easily and with minimal maintenance. We have been using PRTG for more than 10 years and compared to other commercial platforms, it is by far the most painless to configure, use and maintain.

Very easy to install, configure and maintain.
Works with most mainstream network elements with very good autodiscovery functionality and customization facilities.
Compared with other similar platforms, it's totally painless in most aspects.

Initial license and renewal pricing could be a bit lower.

Overall the product is far better than the previously used monitoring tool.

Easy to use have a great web interface. and also having a mobile app is another great advantage.

Love to have this as our primary monitoring tool which we use to monitor our onprem servers, Azure servers, AWS server, application servers and all sorts of network devices.

It's a very easy-to-manage sensor-based monitoring tool.
The cons I see and we switched from another monitoring tool to PRTG were:

1. Able to monitor Active directory replication status and errors.
This was a great advantage when it comes to PRTG. we had to use manual methods to see the status or had to use some other 3rd party tools which were only to monitor AD replication. but that bough us admin overhead since we had to check on 2 monitoring tools.

2. Able to see network utilisation in real-time.
Server network interface and network device interfaces we were able to see the real-time network utilisation. this is a great advantage for sys admins and infra admins to see the utilisation and plan ahead if we see any abnormal behaviour.

3. The support was so awesome.
they have a nice support portal through which we can open tickets. I'm sharing this support experience even before I bought a license and was just trailing out the product. the experts provided solutions for all the issues and was able to bring PRTG to live.

1. Having difficulty adding bulk devices using a CSV.

I am very confident about the overall health state of my IT infrastructure (cloud and on-premises), since PRTG monitors every important aspect of it.

It could be a little bit difficult to give some feedback about the improvement of some features.

Best monitoring tools ever, the pricing is fair and there is free version that can be use for try on.

The Only problem is this product can only run on Windows.

I really advise any network to implement in their environment to monitor their traffic on a daily basis.

2- UI is simple that you can understand everything right away
3- No complication during the installing/deploying phase
4- Continuous update to remove any bugs that are found
5- Support was approved since last year to become more supportive with less time taken to solve the issue.

PRTG Network Monitor lacks some advanced customization options, and the pricing can be a bit steep for smaller businesses.

Our infrastructure is very big (3 data centers between USA, Europe and APAC).
Without it we couldn't keep monitoring all our resources and guarantee a good service level.

PRTG is an extremely useful monitoring tool with a seemingly endless range of functions, at least once out of the realm of "the possible" is felt here no limit, because you can somehow bend everything to your liking, and if you ever get stuck, Paessler's support conjures a BETA sensor out of the bag, and you are provided with what you would like. Properly exposed, and sensibly configured and maintained, hardly any wishes remain unfulfilled, and if they do, they are at least of an exotic nature, and somehow the girls and guys from the support department manage to bend an existing sensor so that it can be monitored after all.

Sometimes I am a bit overwhelmed because of the clearly winding paths to the goal, and here a much more extensive knowledge base would be much more helpful, but as already mentioned, the support helps you with almost all questions, so that you ultimately get to your goal.

From a certain performance level, i.e. > 1,000 active sensors, the sheet metal under the PRTG core should be well performing and have a really fast network connection to the probes, otherwise the whole thing becomes a bit sluggish.

We have had some problems getting false positives with Meraki products.

The fact that it is currently only available to host on windows is a bit a draw back. Say this however the currently development into a Linux based system is showing promise.
