    Amazing Open Source Office Editor

    For customers for whom data sovereignty is important, the Self Hosting Edition is recommended. Then you don't necessarily have to go to the Public Cloud. Furthermore, there are currently more features in the commercial than with MS Office Online.

    I was using OnlyOffice for my programming consultancy business for several years already. It is so far the cloud-based service that has all mandatory tools I need in one place, however some good-to-have tools are missing (i.e. Kanban board) and some other tools were not updates for years (tasks, timesheets.)

    OnlyOffice has many useful tools in one place, which I use for my consultancy business. To my knowledge it is the only platform that can edit documents, provide invoicing, tasks, generate timesheets, allow working with several e-mail accounts in one place. And this is not the full list of features! I think OnlyOffice is very cost-efficient because I need only one license for everything.

    some tools are not updated for years. Adding tasks is much more tedious than in some modern SAAS platforms. Timesheet generation is not flexible enough (can't customize monthly reports). I also didn't find a way of connecting OnlyOffice to some ETL automation / no-code tools.

    My favourite MS-Office successor

    I like ONLYOFFICE, because for my private needs, it has all I need. I don't need the complete MS-Office solution for that hefty prices. There isn't an option that I miss in the ONLYOFFICE tools, and I like the fact that the use of it is very similar to MS-Office that I have to use in work, so it's not a big confusion.

    Overall I use OnlyOffice for the majority of my work because of the feature set. For the “outside the office” part of my job I used to work with LibreOffice but finally switched to OnlyOffice, because all the apps and an email client can be found in one place.

    I researched, tested and evaluated over a dozen alternatives to the Microsoft Office 365 offerings. Onlyoffice fulfilled 3 main requirements for me:
    1. It just works. It is reliable.
    2. Multi-platform. Working on the web, Android, Win10 and Linux, I needed the apps to be available there.
    3. Cost-effective. The free version works great. From there, it can grow with your needs.

    I used OnlyOffice during my master studies for a course project. It was very convenient and had a variety of project management tools available which were very useful for my team assignment. Unfortunately, OnlyOffice was not completely free, so I stopped using it after a while.

    Positive

    First of all, since I used a free trial version, OnlyOffice document editor was a great alternative to a paid office tool. In addition to that, I had great tools for planning my work on one platform - an EMail with a calendar, Gantt chart, tasks, time tracker. OnlyOffice also has chat, corporate wiki and blogs, CRM with invoicing which I didn't need to use. To my knowledge there are also some additional integrations with the 3-rd party services for digital signatures and sending SMS messages.

    Negative

    OnlyOffice is still a paid product, so I couldn't use it after a free trial period. File sharing is not very convenient in comparison to some other popular services.

    Not perfect, but improving with each new version - and they are released quite often. Still the best in the open-source world. If you don't care about open-source and cloud and prefer a more intuitive layout with dark UI and native app instead of the bloated Electron framework, you might check out SoftMaker FreeOffice.

    The best open-source alternative to proprietary office suites. It has almost everything they offer and it supports proprietary (docx, xslx...) formats perfectly (unlike LibreOffice) + it's fast (unlike LibreOffice)! It's cloud service and Android app are also well polished (unlike LibreOffice).

    The UI layout is a bit confusing (because it's different, not because it's counter-intuitive), and there is no dark theme, so expect sore eyes if you work in the evenings/nights.
